Now we're cooking with gas

Since the cursed blinternet was out for me last night, I didn't get to mention that my large CD shipment was followed by yesterday's arrival of the DJ Shadow/Cut Chemist disc, Product Placement. Yup, I managed to track it down at this site, which claims to have purchased all remaining copies of the disc, which was limited to a run of 6000.

(Oddly, when I explained my find to Aaron, he misheard me as saying that I had found the CDs for sale on a web site and I had purchased all of the outstanding copies. Should it worry me that he considered that scenario plausible?)

Anyway, it turned out to be a very cool disc, especially for the "Rapping With Gas" segment. Classic.

I'm still working my way through the rest of the new arrivals. I've already found a lot that I like.

As an aside, if you're interested in ordering underground hip hop CDs, I'd rather recommend Hip Hop Infinity than the other guys. They have a much better relationship with music. I dunno. I'd sooner give my money to a site with enough interest and knowledge to proclaim their opinion of the top 50 emcees today than to a site that's trying to push porn videos on the side. Despite the fact that HHI is wrong about Buck 65's past work versus his current releases, they're still the way to go.

Apart from CD arrivals, the past couple of days were notable mainly as the time of our first real winter storm. It has been a stussy winter so far (as some might say); so I can deal with a little snow now. Actually, it worked out okay, since it knocked out the power at work late this afternoon. I stretched out in the hammock for a bit, waiting for the power to come back. When it didn't, we all stayed around for a bit before deciding that the only proper decision was hooking off a little bit early. I can deal with that on a Friday.

I have some running around to do this weekend; but nothing that will prevent me from sleeping in. Which is about as much as I ask.
