Dos

Hey, are you still here? Were you here from the beginning? If so, that's two years of my nonsense that you've been putting up with; and you have my congratulations and condolences.

Yes, this entry marks two years that I've been keeping this journal. It's not even anything that I think about anymore; it's just part of the routine.

I didn't scroll back through the older entries, but let me think of what I've covered. Hmm . . . I think that it has just been two years of concert reviews. Heh. Okay, maybe there was a little bit more here and there.

Let's see. I started writing shortly after getting over the most emotionally down part of my life, to date, so any readers were spared the worst of it. I think that my writing should be coming across as mostly positive, since things have been going well.

Two years later, I'm still living in the same townhouse, although perhaps these days are numbered. (The itch to get a house is definitely here now.) I went through a few roommates, most of whom were cool. Of course, I was already friends with Aaron, Nick, Frank, and Colin; and of the transients, I still hear from Maneesh and Oak once in a while.

Aaron has been the only other constant here for that whole time; and he and I still get along great, as always. I think that it's a very good vibe here now, with he and Loralei, Nick, Frank, and I.

I guess that the biggest change since I started writing was probably work. In one year, I went from being excited about starting full-time work with the same company I had been with for all my work terms, to developing a lingering dissatisfaction, to getting ready to quit, only to have them beat me to the punch and axe my whole department. Ehh . . . I had a good run and made a few funny observations.

As it turned out, though, I wasn't spat out the bottom of the porn industry. Instead, I followed the biggest nutcase from my old group to a much more enjoyable job, where I'm still having fun, especially since two other cronies from our former company joined us. Actually, it seems odd to me to think that I've had this job longer than my first, since time has been going quickly.

And, of course, in the two years, there have been dozens of concerts, lots of cool trips (Banff, San Fran, L.A., Houston, Philly, Chicago), and general silliness and fun.

As far as the journal itself goes, it probably has not become everything that I had meant it to be, although I do think I've done a decent job of chronicling those fun times. I'm also more into the online journal concept than ever before, since I now have quite a few that I follow, and I've exchanged words with several other writers. And I even got a (kick-ass) mix tape out of the deal, which justifies the entire effort. At any rate, I'm still having fun writing, which is why I'm still here.

If you have been reading for any portion of these two years, thanks for showing up; and stay tuned for more of the usual: lots of music geek talk, frequent concert recaps, a few silly observations, and the obligatory intermittent whining about not having a girl. Now that's a description of quality writing, if I've ever heard one.

J.
